Rongopai East Coast Chardonnay 2009
A perfect partner with a wide variety of dishes. Try it with roast chicken with almonds and dried apricots in the stuffing, or pan-fried fish in a light cream sauce.
The grapes were harvested in perfect condition in late March/ early April. Fermentation took place in stainless steel vats at cool temperatures to capture primary fruit aromas and freshness. A portion was allowed to undergo malolactic fermentation.
The bouquet displays attractive peach and stone fruit joined by citrus and mealy notes. On the palate this wine is fruit forward with peach and citrus carrying through from the nose. There is an acid backbone that supports the wine bringing some green apples and minerality to the table. An abundantly fruity and refreshing wine it can be enjoyed from early afternoon onwards.
-New World Wine Awards, New Zealand, 2010
"It's fruity and gentle on the nose displaying ripe apple, peach and citrus characters. The palate is medium-light and softly textured with a clean dry finish. At its best: now to 2012."
-Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Oct 2010
"The 2009 vintage is a vibrant, fruit-driven style with ripe melon and peach flavours, showing good depth. Medium-bodied, with fresh acidity, it's finely balanced for easy, enjoyable drinking."
